Hemorrhaging refers to the extensive bleeding of 17 ounces or more within the first 24 hours after childbirth. It is termed postpartum hemorrhage.
What causes a woman to hemorrhage?
- Left over Placenta tissue
- Clotting or Coagulation Problems
- A large or bleeding episiotomy
- A uterus that will not contract
- Tearing of the vagina or cervix during childbirth
- A tear or rupture in the uterus (Placenta Abruptio)
- Placenta Previa
